The incumbent performs a variety of meeting space set-up tasks, mostly of a skilled nature, which often involve the use of physical strength.  Incumbents in this position are responsible for providing standard meeting space sets per customer specification and Washington Convention and Sports Authority quality assurance standards. Incumbents are responsible for understanding the organization and subscribing to its commitment to customer excellence. Manual labor is primarily performed but, on some occasions, power tools may be used.  Work is performed individually, or in-groups, under the close supervision of Meeting Services Supervisors and/or Meeting Services Team Leaders.

The Project Coordinator will work with the Vice President of Development & Strategic Initiatives, as well as Project Managers in the coordination and organization of newly developing and ongoing projects.  These tasks will involve monitoring project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner.  Work involves the performance of complex duties requiring substantial administrative experience and the ability to exercise considerable independent judgment. Successful candidate must be resourceful; and can proactively problem solve while making decisions independently.  This candidate will also have the opportunity to greatly contribute to the division’s overall success.  This candidate reports to the Vice President of Development and Strategic Initiatives.

The Vice President, Convention Management Division, is responsible for the overall management of the show management, exhibitions, event coordination and meeting set-up.  The incumbent defines expected results and holds staff accountable for those results, while overseeing the effective utilization of budget, equipment, and other resources.   This is a highly responsible and professional position requiring an individual with experience in developing and supervising promotional and event-coordinating activities. The work involves developing policies, systems, and procedures, and performing and/or overseeing convention management activities. The incumbent should have extensive experience in convention planning and facility operations, as well as proficient knowledge of food and beverage operations.  The work is characterized by great attention to detail, the exercising of independent judgment, overall supervision of events and staff, the coordination of multiple tasks at one time, collaboration with other work units within and outside of the Convention Center, and the maintenance of high standards of customer service. Incumbent is directly responsible for supervising Event Managers, Meeting Service Managers, and is in direct contact with both the food and beverage General Manager as well as the Regional Vice President. The incumbent is given wide latitude and flexibility in choosing methods of completing assigned work.  The incumbent receives general supervision and policy direction by the Chief Operating Officer.

Washington Convention Center by independently coordinating and directing the delivery of services to large conventions, exhibitions and consumer shows. The Senior Event Manager may also be assigned to stand alone meetings, banquets and consumer shows.  Work is performed under the general direction of Assistant Director, Convention Management Division.
