Job Description

The Logistics Specialist (LS) will be responsible for coordination and facilitation of all shipping and receiving functions at the Entertainment and Sports Arena; as well as coordinating and facilitating all vehicle movements at the Loading Dock, and any other roads, parking areas, and standing zones open to vehicle traffic, that directly impact operations at the Arena.


The LS will oversee the daily operations of the loading dock; including assisting the Security Manager or his designee with all vehicle activity at the dock; loading/unloading of any parcel deliveries for the building and its occupants/tenants/clients. The LS will also implement processes and maintain all records of parcels shipped to and from the arena until delivery to the appropriate recipient; ensures that proper safety procedures are implemented; and responds to emergency calls during off hours; and reports all incidents/situations impacting dock operations.


The LS will also be responsible for coordinating, planning and executing Event Day pedestrian and vehicle traffic control at the Entertainment and Sports Arena and designated parking areas; including, but not limited to, development and implementation of traffic plans in compliance with DC government traffic laws, directing traffic, controlling parking, and controlling drop-off lanes. 


The Logistics Specialist will report to the Manager, Security Services or his/her designee.

  • Ability to operate required equipment, including but not limited to a forklift, pallet jack, delivery dolly, carts, etc.


  • Directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic in areas adjacent to and surrounding the Entertainment and Sports Arena
  • Establish policies and procedures for dock operations and all other duties assigned under this position.
  • Ensures procedures are in compliance with dock control to ensure compliance with Events DC guidelines.
  • Monitors public, contractor, and client activities to ensure compliance with established safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Observes the environment for suspicious vehicles or persons and reports to appropriate staff members.
  • Assists in the planning, organization, and coordination of arriving and departing truck/vehicle delivery to the ESA when appropriate.
  • Ensures security of loading dock operations, proper sequencing of deliveries, and effective space utilization.
  • Ensures operability and accessibility for all appropriate loading dock equipment; i.e. forklift, pallet jacks, carts, delivery dolly, etc.
  • Conducts regular inspections of the loading dock to ensure that the staff and tenant are in compliance with Events DC policy and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of related tasks and duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience using a computer database and/or proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated logistics experience, specifically in the area of vehicular deliveries and movement; shipping and receiving operations,
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a lead role, using good, independent judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Six (6) months of responsible experience performing general work involving customer relations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
